Bestival for life!

This year’s features Lily Allen for the first time in three years, who will be appearing on stage on Saturday evening. It will be a much awaited act on stage, and those who attended in 2006 will remember the thrilling 'bunny' costume which went down well. Such was her embracing of the spirit of , she has readily agreed to judge this year’s fancy dress costume competition. All you have to do is get creative and make your costume and send in a picture to the following address: fancydress@bestival.net. has a space theme for this year, so all you would-be Klingons and Barbarellas get moving with the creative juice and make your outfit! Lily Allen will pick her favorite entrant every month, until finally selecting the outright winner. If that happens to be you, then you can expect to attend the Bestival free of charge for the rest of your life. Wow! Come on then Glastonbury, beat that if you can. If you wish to attend one of the coolest festivals in the UK for life, then hurry and create your costume and send us a photograph.

You have, of course, still to get to whilst trying not to destroy your fancy dress 'creation'. Most folks go the traditional way to the Isle of Wight by the ferry service. This could be a problem for twelve specially unique individuals, who are going to swim across the Solent to raise money for charity. All of these hardy, or maybe foolhardy, people is hopeful of making the swim in order to raise much needed cash for two charitable organizations. One of the goals is raise sufficient cash to buy a new minibus for a special school in South Africa for disadvantaged children. Some of the other funds will be directed towards the Marie Curie Cancer research organization. With a bit of luck the swimmers would have made alternative plans to get their costumes on to the , unless they intend to go as a family of amphibious aliens!
